Solana got itself a mascot. Crypto traders got another gamble, which soared 4,000%

Solana gave its favorite purple mascot a bigger spotlight and traders wasted no time putting a ticker on it.

How it works

Solana has become a patron of crypto cartoonist Bold Leonidas, giving a bigger spotlight to Sollo, the green, frog-like character with big oval eyes and a blue shirt that has appeared across the artist's comics around the Solana ecosystem.

Bold, a crypto artist known for his hand-drawn daily comics, announced on Monday that Solana had joined the patrons supporting Bold Comics. Solana's official X account then amplified artwork showing Sollo standing beside the blockchain's three-bar gradient logo, reinforcing the link between the character and the network.

The character itself is not new. Sollo has shown up repeatedly in Bold Leonidas' drawings, including at an art show during Solana Breakpoint 2025 in Abu Dhabi.

A now-deleted event page for the show described Sollo as the "beloved Solana mascot." What changed on Monday was that Solana itself became a patron of the artist behind the character.

There's still an important distinction to keep in mind
Neither Solana nor Bold appears to have announced an official Sollo token and Solana has not explicitly said in public that Sollo is now its official mascot.

Traders started fighting over the ticker anyway

Within hours, several Solana tokens using variations of the character's name began circulating, including SOLLO and SOLLY, per data from on-chain trackers.

  • The confusion briefly became the trade itself. One SOLLY token briefly surged more than 4,000%, climbing from roughly $33,000 in market value to around $1.5 million as traders piled into the mascot trade.
  • SOLLO, another memecoin, subsequently climbed above $500,000 in market value in early trading, according to market alerts tracking the token.
  • Both memecoins were extremely volatile and had only recently launched, making those valuations particularly unstable.
  • None of that makes either token official.

Bold has previously brought crypto companies into the comics in a similar way. Pump.fun became a major Bold Comics patron in 2025, giving the artist an established model in which companies fund the work while becoming part of the visual culture surrounding it.
