Hunter Biden ties 30% of his new memecoin to Polymarket, where Trump Jr. is an adviser

How it works
Update, Sept. 9, 8:40 a.m. UTC. Hunter Biden directly confirmed LAPTOP's tokenomics, saying in an X post on Sept. 9 that 30% of the supply is tied to pre-programmed real-world outcomes, with the corresponding tokens burned if a condition is met and donated to charity if it is not.

He also said 20% will be airdropped to the community, including wallets that lost money on TRUMP, while another 50 million tokens will go to charity regardless of the outcomes.

Hunter Biden described LAPTOP as an attempt to reclaim the symbol used against him politically and warned buyers not to expect him or anyone else to make the token more valuable.

Almost 30% of Hunter Biden's new LAPTOP memecoin supply is tied to bets on Polymarket, where Donald Trump Jr. serves as an adviser, with the tokens set to be burned or donated to charities depending on how those markets resolve.

  • Hunter Biden's upcoming LAPTOP token has set aside 30% of its entire one billion-token supply for a mechanism linked to 30 prediction markets on Polymarket, according to tokenomics published ahead of its September 9 launch on Base, Coinbase's Ethereum Layer-2 network.
  • If one of the selected Polymarket markets ultimately resolves YES, the LAPTOP tokens attached to that outcome will be burned, permanently removing them from supply.
  • If it resolves NO, those tokens will instead be donated to charity.

That puts as many as 300 million LAPTOP tokens at the mercy of outcomes determined under Polymarket's resolution rules.

Burning all of them would cut the token's original one billion supply by as much as 30%, although reducing supply doesn't by itself guarantee that LAPTOP's price will increase.

And Trump Jr. is tied to Polymarket on two fronts
The setup creates an unusual political crossover because Donald Trump Jr., President Trump's eldest son, has served on Polymarket's advisory board since August 2025.

At the same time, 1789 Capital, the venture firm where Trump Jr. is a partner, is one of Polymarket's biggest financial backers.

The firm is now leading a roughly $1 billion financing round with an investment of about $300 million, valuing Polymarket at $21 billion.

It had already invested about $200 million, bringing its reported commitments to roughly $500 million.

There's no announced partnership between Polymarket and LAPTOP, though. Rather, Biden's project is using outcomes from Polymarket as external triggers for its own token supply.

LAPTOP arrives with another Trump connection

LAPTOP, named after the computer Biden left at a Delaware repair shop in 2019 that later became a flashpoint during the 2020 presidential election, is scheduled to begin trading Sept. 9.

  • The founding team, including Biden, gets 30% of the supply, with those tokens locked for six months before gradually vesting.
  • Another 20% is earmarked for first-day and future airdrops, including distributions targeting wallets that lost money trading President Trump's TRUMP memecoin, along with Biden's Substack subscribers and members of video journalist Andrew Callaghan's mailing list.
  • The remaining allocation consists of 10% for liquidity, 5% for the foundation treasury and 5% for charity.
  • The project says 35%, or 350 million tokens, will be unlocked at launch, with the full supply unlocking over 36 months.
