OffMarket, a privacy wrapper built by StarkWare around Polymarket, is going live roughly two months after it was first unveiled.
But it doesn't run a separate prediction market. Instead, users trade against Polymarket's existing markets and liquidity, while OffMarket routes the funding side through Starknet's STRK20 privacy system, per Maya Dotan, a StarkWare researcher who worked on the product
And once that wallet is identified, an observer may be able to follow activity well beyond Polymarket, including transfers and positions on other crypto platforms.
OffMarket is meant to make that link harder to establish. As Dotan explained, the system keeps access to Polymarket's existing liquidity while making users' funding paths and positions harder to connect back to them.
- The product uses STRK20, StarkWare's privacy framework for shielded balances and transfers.
- It was also developed inside StarkWare, fitting the company's broader push into applications following a restructuring earlier this year.
The timing may also draw attention because Polymarket has faced scrutiny over traders potentially acting on nonpublic information.
U.S. prosecutors charged a Google engineer in May with allegedly using confidential company information to make about $1.2 million on Polymarket.
But it remains unclear whether OffMarket changes what Polymarket itself can see about traders behind shielded positions or primarily limits what outside observers can trace.
- Amid the news, Starknet's STRK token soared more than 20% on the day to $0.034, per data from CoinGecko.
- The Coinformer reached out to OffMarket and StarkWare for comments and will update the story if the companies respond.
