Polymarket is preparing to take its prediction markets beyond Polygon, with its new Protocol V2 built to move positions, collateral and even market resolutions across blockchains.
- Rajath Alex, Polymarket's head of protocol, said in a Monday post on X that bridging is now a "first class citizen" in the protocol and is designed to support all three.
- The functionality won't go live immediately, he added, but will be activated "down the line when we do go multi-chain."
Polymarket already lets users deposit funds from multiple networks, but its actual markets still live on Polygon so someone arriving with assets from another chain ultimately trades against contracts deployed there.
Protocol V2 changes what could happen after that deposit.
Technical documentation reviewed by The Coinformer shows a hub-and-spoke design in which additional networks could host Polymarket positions and collateral themselves.
- The first bridge implementation uses Chainlink CCIP, Chainlink's cross-chain messaging protocol, though Polymarket designed the system so other messaging layers could potentially be added later.
Polygon stays at the center
Going multichain doesn't mean Polymarket is abandoning Polygon as under the current V2 design, Polygon remains the authoritative resolution chain.
A market outcome would be settled there before that result is relayed to other networks holding corresponding positions, per the documentation, which gives Polymarket one source of truth while still letting users interact with markets elsewhere, avoiding a situation where the same bet could resolve differently on separate chains.
Polymarket hasn't named which networks would come first or when the expansion will begin.
Following users to other chains
The shift could put Polymarket closer to users already trading elsewhere.
- Base has Limitless, an on-chain prediction market backed by Coinbase Ventures and the Base Ecosystem Fund.
- Solana has Worldxyz, an on-chain rival built directly into Phantom.
- BNB Chain has Opinion, which alone generated about $7 billion in volume in December 2025.
Polymarket currently asks those users to come back to Polygon even when their capital starts elsewhere, while V2 could eventually bring the market closer to them instead.
Polymarket plans to test several V2 canary markets through October before tentatively moving new markets onto the protocol on Nov. 2.
